After a lethargic first quarter, Olimpia gradually got into the game and exploded in a 59-point second half to take its third consecutive wins. Now, it has clinched at least the second place in the standings, after defeating Treviso 92-78. Olimpia trailed by as many as 11 points in the second quarter, but was tied up at the intermission and took over in the third quarter. Johannes Voigtmann scored 21 points, Shabazz Napier and Kevin Pangos combined for 29 points. The second half was dominated after a momentary five-point early Treviso lead. “We were lethargic to say the least in the beginning, then we improved and Voigtmann helped us to beat their zone defense. The last two games we have been excellent at beating any zone defense, tonight we struggled. Mostly, we missed a lot of open looks. Sometimes this happens, but overall we played a very good second half,” Coach Messina said at the end. Two games are remining in the regular season. Olimpia will hit the road next week to play Derthona and will close out against Sassari at home before the playoffs will start.
