Olimpia took control of the Scafati game in the middle of the first quarter and never looked back in a 99-77 win. “We were coming off a good week of work and that was a good game. We will try to build on it while trying to get the best possible position in the playoffs’ seeding,” Coach Ettore Messina. For the first time Olimpia is now sitting at the top of the standings, although not alone, with two games remaining. Shavon Shileds scored 20 quite easy points. He shot the ball with efficiency, he went 5-for-5 from the line, and added six assists. Shabazz Napier was the most explosive on the court, with 18 points and 6-for-8 on threes. Finally, both Denzel Valentine and Willie Caruso scored in double digit. “My intention entering this game was to ride Caruso a little more than usual. That’s why we never use Alex Poythress,” Messina pointed out. Caruso started at the power forward position next to Melli and scored 10 points. Valentine added 13 coming off the bench. “It was a step up for him, I liked what he did defensively against Gentile down low,” Messina said. Kyle Hines had another monster game, nine points, five rebounds, four assists and 4-for-5 from the field. Olimpia will face Brescia in the next round. Both teams have the same 20-8 record.
