Olimpia had another commanding performance in game 2, taking a 2-0 lead in the quarterfinals series against Virtus Bologna. 99-72 was the final score, the largest lead was 29 points late in the fourth and the game never looked in doubt after a 7-0 start. Bologna had a good run in the second quarter when some turnovers, a technical foul called on Frank Elegar and four consecutive threes (Allan Ray had a 13-point second period) helped to bring Virtus within four. Olimpia responded again. MarShon Brooks led the scorers with 16 points but it was Alessandro Gentile with a dominating game to be the key player. He had a total game and his drives hurt Bologna’s defense both ealy in the game and in the decisive third quarter. Daniel Hackettb had another outstanding game but Olimpia also rode Nicolò Melli’s rebounding game, Frankie Elegar’s leaps and Bruno Cerella’s energy. Cerella had his second straight double-digit game, attacking the rim on the break. Now the series moves to Bologna and Friday night there will be game 3.
