Olimpia started the Bologna game really well, built a 13-point lead in the first quarter and led by as many as fifteen points twice in the second. Everything looked fine and well directed, but as soon as the energy level from the opponent raised Olimpia disappeared. The two middle periods were defensively horrible and the 15-point lead was turned upside down. Bologna entered in the last quarter leading by 11. The final score was 97-85. “We played 15 minutes the way we were supposed to play for 40 – Coach Peppe Poeta said – Bologna played an incredible game for aggressiveness, spirit, willingness. The willingness decided the game. When the energy changed the game, we got frustrated, we started complaining with the referees and essentially we quit. Our defense was again not adequate for a EuroLeague road game. We were missing our two best perimeter defenders, Bolmaro and Tonut, and but there is no reason why can’t spend a foul better, to prevent a fastbreak or stop a mismatch when we are not in the penalty. We didn’t use the fouls well. There’ a lot of work to do.”
