Olimpia won the Italian League finals rematch convincingly 86-78, taking off in the second half with a game well played at both ends of the floor. Playing without Nedovic, Tarczewski, Brooks and for the first time Mike James, Olimpia had a lot from a lot of players. Arturas Gudaitis had a devastating fourth quarter and finished tying his Italian league career-high with 19 points, while Mindaugas Kuzminskas added 13 points to his career-high 12 rebounds, six of them offensive, and Amedeo Della Valle scored 18 points. Andrea Cinciarini with five assists is now three assists shy of Piero Montecchi’s third place for most career assists with Olimpia. Trento led in the second quarter by as many as five points, then Olimpia took control early in the third taking on several moments a 15-point lead. “The sense of tonight’s game was to able to play a serious, effective game even witout four regulars, without Mike James who needed to stop a couple of days before the hectic week ahead, and with lineups never used before. The guys responded once more”, Coach Pianigiani said at the end.
