Scafati clogged the middle and Olimpia’s offense shot 4-for-21 from three-point territory. That was the main reason for an offensive mediocre outing that cost the game. Scafati led for the length of the game on its way to a 77-68 win. Olimpia came back a few times in the first half and again in the second when reduced the deficit from 14 to four points behind. That was when Alessandro Gentile made a huge fade-away jump shot that gave back some rhythm to the local team. Scafati is a dangerous offensive team that averaged 92.2 points per game overall and 96 at home. Olimpia managed to hold them at 77. “We made some mistakes but defensively we went beyond our expectations- Coach Ettore Messina said- but our offense was mediocre at best. They challenged us to score from the perimeter and we didn’t.” Olimpia had 10 turnovers and just nine assists for the night. Scafati was kept at three offensive rebounds, but shot extremely well from the arc, Riccardo Rossato determined the run in the second quarter, Janis Strelnieks did the same in the third. When Olimpia raised its intensity level at the defensive end of the floor, after Gentile’s fadeaway, Gerald Robinson made a huge three from the corner that essentially closed the game for good”.
