Olimpia came back from a horrible start and won 75-66 in Scafati in a weird game. Coach Ettore Messina had to call a timeout less than a minute into the game. Scafati started 8-0, 13-2 and 15-5, but Olimpia responded vehemently with a 21-2 run, scored an incredible 31 points over seven minutes and took control of the game. The margin exploded to 21 points late in the second. However, after making all six of its three-point attempts in the first quarter, Olimpia finished 0-for-11 the rest of the night and it was the defense to come to the rescue. The margin was never below the nine-point barrier, but Olimpia didn’t have the chance to relax one bit. “Give them credit – Coach Messina said – we were a little tired, we missed a lot of open shots in the second half, we dribbled too much and our point guards were a little fatigued. It is not easy for them at this time with Mitrou-Long and Baldasso out for some more weeks. However, we won. Shields looked good even in a not so great for him shooting night. And we won on the road.”

Nicolò Melli was the first to responds with eight straight points, 12 over the first six minutes before incurring in foul trouble. Brandon Davies had a 10-point third quarter on his way to a 16 points team-high outing. But overall everybody helped. Kevin Pangos moved the ball well, Paul Biligha showed a lot of energy in the second quarter. What the team lacked was consistency throughout the game in an otherwise productive night.

Kevin Pangos was brilliant for at least three quarters
