Sergio Rodriguez and Shelvin Mack combined for 41 points, Amedeo Della Valle made three threes in the third period and Vlado Micov – scoreless up to that point – made the killer three after Fenerbahce with a 5-0 run came from eight down to within three. Olimpia defeated Fenerbahce 79-75 and conquered the final at the Giannakopoulos Tournament in Athens. Milan came back from 10 down in the first, 12 in the second and again responded when Fenerbahce took the lead again in the second half. It did it with great defense (Fenerbahce was forced into 20 turnovers), a mentally strong game and 12 threes. While Rodriguez made four of them in a dominating 26-point effort, Shelvin Mack made a couple of dagger threes, Della Valle was clutch in the third and Michael Roll helped a lot especially early in the game with an array of mid-range jumpers. Olimpia took the lead in the second quarter after Rodriguez came up on top in a spectacular duel with Ali Muhammed, making 17 points in the first half. Fenerbahce responded early in the third, took the lead again entering the fourth, but Olimpia found all the answers, benefitting from a Paul Biligha’s late three-point play, and finishing the game with a small line-up featuring two point-guards, and Micov at the 4.
