The Olimpia Milan preseason will be in an “extrasmall” version this year. On the eve of a potentially very long season and with five players involved in the World Cup, there will be five games that will escort Olimpia to the Brescia Super Cup on 23 and 24 September. Olimpia will make its debut in Vigevano, as it did last year, to face Bertram Tortona, another team involved in the Super Cup, on Wednesday 6 September. The game is labeled as the Bottacin Memorial and the proceeds from ticket sales will go to the Tog Foundation which since 2011 has been involved in the rehabilitation of children suffering from complex neurological pathologies, in particular infantile cerebral palsy. On Saturday 9 September at 18:00, Olimpia will be back on the court in Cagliari in the semi-final of the “City of Cagliari” tournament against ASVEL Villeurbanne. The following day, it will play one of the two finals against one between Red Star Belgrade and Dinamo Sassari. The Cagliari tournament will represent the first opportunity to face EuroLeague opponents. The following week, again without the national team players, Olimpia will first play a scrimmage behind closed doors and then a regular game in Athens against Olympiacos on the night which will celebrate the career of Vassilis Spanoulis. During the night, Olympiacos will retire the number 7 jersey belonging to the great Spanoulis, currently the all-time leading scorer ever in the EuroLeague. Finally, before the debut in the Italian league, there will be the Super Cup in Brescia with the semi-final scheduled for September 23, at 18:30 in Brescia against Virtus Bologna, exactly like a year ago. In case of a win, the following day the final will be played against one between Germani Brescia and Bertram Tortona. Only in Brescia, Olimpia will be able to use the national team players again.
