Olimpia overcame injuries (Nedovic and Della Valle were not available), illnesses (Jeff Brooks rose from his bed in the afternoon to score 12 points, grabbing seven boards and defending like a man possessed) and fatigue with a shorthanded roster to beat Baskonia 93-90. Olimpia led basically from the start, tried several times to get away for good but Baskonia never gave up and in a strange final stretch had the shot to force the overtime. Brooks closed out strong on Darrun Hilliard and saved the won with a clutch block. Olimpia made 14 threes. Vlado Micov scored 13 of his 22 points in the first quarter before committing his second foul that obligated Coach Pianigiani to keep him on the bench for the entire second period. Mike James, harassed all over the floor, had 7 first-half assists before taking over in a memorable third quarter. He finished with 20 points and eight assists. Olimpia received something from everybody, Tarczewski in the beginning, Cinciarini in the third, Kuzminskas scored five points during a difficult stretch. Finally Curtis Jerrells after making a couple lf threes was perfect from the line in the last minute to keep the lead with the help of a pair of outstanding defwnsive efforts.
