Olimpia did an impressive job in coming back from 19 points down to win 82-77 against a deep Bayern Munich team that will compete in the EuroLeague this season. Tired and with no energy, Olimpia started the game in a very passive way especially at the defensive end of the floor and was dominated early by the opponents. Instead of conceding the win to Bayern, in the middle of the second quarter was able to dig deep inside and find the pride to come back and play a very promising second half. Mike James led all the scorers with 32 points in 30 minutes of action but Olimpia changed rhytm when he was supported by other players (Micov and Nedovic offensively) and by the team defense. Olimpia closed its preseason with a 7-2, won two games in Zadar and showed promising signs. “Today’s game was a great lesson – Coach Pianigiani said – because the conditions were far from being ideal, we were tired and all but that’s going to happen again during the season. The key to stay in the game and approach it the right way. Today we allowed Bayern to score 27 points in the first period. That’s not going to happen. But we came back not because of Mike James scoring but because we supported his talent spacing the floor the right way, moving the ball and finally because we played a lot better defensively”.
