Another big comeback in a Euroleague games but this time Olimpia comes up a little short. CJ Wallace ties up the score at 71 after being 15 points down in the second quarter. But down the stretch Zalgiris finishes better. Justin Dentmon on a bank shot with less than 4 seconds to play scores the winning basket. Olimpia’d have the opportunity to regain the lead but Lipkevicius steals the ball and won for his team the third home game of the season. Olimpia’s winning streak is stopped at three but the point differential is saved. Some regrets for a second quarter of struggling in the first five minutes, spent without scoring, for some foul shots missed every now and then and also for the hand injury happened to Samardo Samuels. He was unable to play the entire fourth period. 73-71 is the final score.
THE FIRST HALF – The tempo is up, a lot of three-pointers attempted early by Zalgiris, who score with three foul shots by Dentmon and a three off the screen by Pocius. Olimpia keeps up, attacka the rim and score on a three with Jerrells. Zalgiris goes up at 14-11 when after a Gentile’s miss, Dentmon score on a coast-to-coast. David Moss goes in for Jerrells to guard Dentmon. He executes the plan forcing a miss and a turnover although the game is stopping suddenly on offense. Langford closes the gap, Moss makes a jumper from mid-range, Langford makes two free throws and surpasses 17-15, a 6-1 run stopped by a Dimsa’s basket on the break. But the second quarter is a nightmare. The Zalgiris run is 12-0. In the first six minutes Olimpia scores only with a Langford’s foul shot sanctioned because of the second Dentmon’s flop earning him a technical foul. There are a couple of unlucky breaks, including a shooting foul on a Lavrinovic’s three called by the referee far from the action. Zalgiris goes up 33-18. Olimpia tries to respond with two transition threes made by Jerrells and Langford, a mid-range jumper by Gentile and a three-point play made by Melli. Olimpia gets closes at 35-29 but Zalgiris closes up 39-31.
THE SECOND HALF – Melli scores on mid-jumper but just like that he commits his third foul, Moss has four fouls after five minutes in the third. Still, Olimpia keeps the pace. Langford misses the third free throw of his game but he makes the 48-41 basket, Samuels dunks using his left hand. Langford makes a three and Olimpia is within five points. Wallace misses the three to go within two and Jasikevicius doesn’t make no mistakes making a three and dishing an assist. At the end of the third Zalgiris is again up by 10, 60-50. Early in the fourth three open threes are hitting the rim but Moss playing with four fouls completes a three-point play and a corner three. When Gentile scores on a drive it is 66-60 Zalgiris. A turnover and missed three by Jerrells are allowing Zalgiris to breathe again, up by 10. Langford makes another three but Moss fouls out. Keith again with two free throws and the defense is taking control. Here there’s a strange flagrant foul called on Jerrells keeping EA7 from running on the break. Dentmon makes only one free throw, then he has a turnover, Gentile scores from the arc and Olimpia is down by three, 71-68 and 70 seconds left. Langford makes one of two free throws. Wallace grabs a rebound and makes two foul shots tying the game at 70. But Dentmon on the last possession makes a tough bank shot. After the time out Olimpias has the inbound play with less than 4 seconds remaining but Lipkevicius steal the ball.
