Olimpia led substantially for the length of the game and defeated Sassari in Sassari 85-73. The defense was able to hold Dinamo well below its league-high average and the offense hit the open man and produced 12 three-pointers. Sassari stayed in the game, attempted the comeback on several junctures, led mostly by the impressive shooting displayed by Marco Spissu, who had 24 points and seven threes, but every time Olimpia felt threatened it found a way to respond. Zach LeDay set his new career-high with 28 points and and overall great effort, but more than anything it was a team effort. Shavon Shields set the tone early and scored 19 points, Malcolm Delaney had some initiative and Paul Biligha anchored the defense and made also a couple of great mid-range jumpers. He made up for Kyle Hines absence and Kaleb Tarczewski’s foul troubles that plagued him especially in the second half. “It’s never easy to win here – Coach Ettore Messina said at the end -, we defended well and moved the ball in order to hit the open man. The shooting percentages were great and helped.”
