Olimpia won its tenth straight Italian League game with a dominating 96-70 effort in Varese. Milan took control early and got away for good in the second quarter when Varese’s shooters couldn’t keep pace. It was a high-energy outing, at both ends of the floor, with responsibilities and minutes shared among 11 players and in spite of playing for the first time without Sergio Rodriguez and Malcolm Delaney at the same time. Kaleb Tarczewski set the tone early, with a dominating performance in the paint. He scored 10 of his 12 points in the first half and finished with nine rebounds and two blocks. The the shooters did a great job. Vlado Micov, Shavon Shields and Kevin Punter combined for 9-for-9 from three-point range, while Zach LeDay went 7-for-7 from the line and scored 18 points. Five players scored in double figure, Andrea Cinciarini, starting at the point-guard position, accumulated seven points, five rebounds and four assists in a spirited all-around effort. “I’m happy because we had a lot from every player, and that allowed us to share the working load among the entire roster. We played with energy, we were aggressive, we kept a great tempo,” Coach Ettore Messina said at the end. It’s the third time in the playoff-era that Olimpia starts the season with at least 10 wins.
