Just 42 hours after the big game in Belgrade, Olimpia will step on the court again to face Pistoia in the Italian league. “We didn’t have time to prepare for this game – Coach Mario Fioretti said – so our main goal is to regroup and get back the right amount of energy, physically and mentally. We need energy to limit their transition fialed goals and one on one plays.” Olimpia is riding a little bit of momentum, having won convincingly the last three games played, two in the EuroLeague, with a 93.3 points per game average. So, the morale is high and Diego Flaccadori will be back on the court. Pistoia is playing well, though, a winner of three of the last four games. “They have two players showing to be high-caliber for our league, Moore and Varnado. Other players are giving them a lift, like Payton Willis and Carl Wheatle,” Fioretti said. Charlie Moore, a point guard, is averaging 17.3 points and 5.5 assists per game on 44.2 percent three-point shooting. Small forward Jordon Varnado is adding 17.2 points per game and is another 40-plus percent three-point shooter. Willis finally is attempting about eight threes per game converting them over 40 percent. So, shooting will be a factor in the game. Pistoia is implementing a six-man rotation.
