Olimpia couldn’t finish in game 4, surrendering 77-74 after a very unusual, strange game. Milan led for more than three quarters, leading by as many as 11 points in the third but let the momentum slip away between the last two periods. Trento converted an 11-point deficit into a 16-point lead. The comeback was late. It was a strange game because Olimpia did its job well for most of the game and the only regrets was not being able to capitalize enough on it. A better job in rebounding the ball and protecting it was once more ruined by a free-throw discrepancy (31-11, 61-21 combined) that is unexplainable. It was surreal late in the third a call made against Tarczewski that was hit to the forehead by Dustin Hogue and had to leave the game for good, when the opponent went to the line unaffected. That’s the biggest problem entering into a pivotal game 5 on Wedsneday night. The finals is now a 3-game series basically. “We did what we were supposed to do for most of the game – Coach Simone Pianigiani said at the end – when our leads were good, considering the score, but they should have been bigger. Then we lost momentum, we settled for too many jumpers and we didn’t stop the run with an open shot, a good foul or two free throws. Again, the difference in free throws attempts is too wide to explain. I can’t. But that made the difference in the last two games. We cameback in the fourth but obviously it was too late. Fortunately we go back home now, and our crowd will help us, will give us some more energy to take the lead again. Now it’s a miniseries, anything can happen, playing at home or on the road doesn’t make any difference, everybody is tired. But this 2-2 situation doesn’t reflect what has happened on the floor. Again, we need to adjust otherwise one of our guys will leave the court again with an opened head and the other guy will earn anothre trip to the free throw lines. That’s cannot happen”.
