Olimpia did a great job closing out the quartefinals series against Cantù on the road, 74-65. Milan took the lead early and basically never reliquished it. With an amazing second quarter got away and led by as many as 18 points. Cantù responded many times, coming back within four at one point, but Olimpia had all the answers it needed. Andrew Goudelock had a sensational game, scoring 16 points in the first half and two consecutive threes in the fourth, acting as the perfect closer. Dairis Bertans scored eight straight points in the third period when Cantù mounted its first attempt to comeback. “It was another solid game within a solid series – Coach Simone Pianigiani said – It’s never easy to lead in Cantù for the entire game but we did. For three straight games we dictated the tempo and never let Cantù run. I’m a little disappointed by our two-point shooting because we missed too many fastbreak opportunities and we had some turnovers we need to avoid. But really it was a good game and now we have to step up a little more because the semifinals will be played at a different level”.
