After a one-year absence Olimpia Milano returned to the Italian league finals, by prevaling 3 wins to 1 over Brescia. The Game 4 potential closeout games was won exactly like Milano was capable to do in Reggio Emilia. The final score was 91-86 but the story of the game was another. Olimpia led for the length of the game and just like in the other two wins built a commanding lead between third and fourth period. At one point, it led by 19 points with around six minutes left in the game. When the game looked essentially over, Brescia started to hit its three-pointers and led by Della Valle – who had an amazing series – and Jason Burnell got closer and closer. Olimpia struggled a litle bit defensively and was affected by having to slow down the execution when Brescia used a zone defense trying to speculate on missing threes. However, the outcome was never in doubt. “We controlled the game, we never stopped doing our job against the zone. Brescia never gives up. I think tonight our defense was a little less effective especially in negating Miro Bilan’s short roll, and we didn’t shoot well from three again and stille we scored 91 points,” Coach Peppe Poeta said.

The Finals series will be the 23rd in Olimpia’s history, the fifth over a six-year span. Game 1 sill start next Thursday. Shavon Shields who will appera in his seventh championship series was abosultely phenomenal, adding seven rebounds to his 12 points, six assists and two critical steals. Armoni Brooks went just 1-for-7 fron threes, but his only three-pointer came in the fourth quarter on the team’s first possession against the zone defense. However, he was able to attack off the dribble and finished with a team-high 18 points, going 6-for-6 in twos. Josh Nebo was all over the floor, scored 12 points on 6-for-7 shooting. Zach LeDay had his first big offensive game, setting the tone early with seven points in the first five minutes then he finished with 12. An offensive rebound and a dunk took place in a critical third quarter stretch.
