It looked a lot like the Red Star game, unfortunately. Olimpia looked in control early and throughout the game pushing Zalgiris back multiple times. But the last assault was lethal. Zalgiris, after trailing by 11 in the first period, seven in the second half, tied the game up and switched momentum back in its favor to finish better and winning 86-82. In truth, Zalgiris built twice a five-point lead in the third quarter, but Shanon Shields – who had a memorable night, if not for the loss – led Olimpia’s comeback and then took over on his way to a 27-point losing effort. Honestly, several Olimpia players despite playing all-out in terms of effort didn’t perform up to their capabilities and that had an impact on the outcome of the game. In the second half it was a very physical and nervous game, with two T’s both called to the Olimpia bench, challenges and controversial calls. Particularly, a potential three-point play by Shields who could have tied the game up again was considered an offensive foul that essentially closed the game for good.
