Olimpia Milan and Dairis Bertans have decided together to part ways immediately so he can fulfill his professional dream and continue the season in the NBA.

“Dairis has shown the legitimate desire to take advantage of an unexpected opportunity and compete in the NBA – says Olimpia sports director, Lupo Rossini – Allowing players to achieve their goals is a value that this club has always promoted and intends to continue to promote, while protecting first of all the interests of Olimpia. While sorry for having to part with a player who gave us so much and was impeccable for two years, we decided to welcome his request by expressing him the best wishes for the future.”

“I want to thank Olimpia for giving me the opportunity to realize a dream that I was pursuing since I was a kid – said Dairis Bertans – I can’t even start to describe the pride I felt spending two years in such a historic club. All the people I’ve met during those two years, are family to me. Hopefully, one day, I will wear the Olimpia glorious jersey again.”

Dairis Bertans played for two years in Milan, winning an Italian league title and two Supercups. He closed his EuroLeague making 56.3% of his three-point shots, first overall. Bertans, in case of returning to Europe, insisted on granting Olimpia the option to bring him back to Milan.
