Olimpia’s defense did a lot of damage in Avellino, inspiring an impressive 83-60 triumph over Sidigas. Olimpia kept Avellino at 34% from the field and dominated the game. A three-point shooting barrage by Oliver Lafayette in the middle of the first period turned a 12-8 deficit into a 18-12 lead and then EA7 never looked back. Kruno Simon led the offense in the second quarter with 10 points then after the halftime Alessandro Gentile took over. He scored 10 consecutive points in a Jordanesque way: a three-pointer, a three-point play, a huge dunk and a corner long two with the shot-clock expiring. That sequence of plays allowed Olimpia to keep a safe lead before Simon came back to finish the job. The fourth quarter was under control. It was a very good road game for the team. Simon had 21 points and 10 rebounds. Jamel McLean was 8/10 from the line.
