Let the streak roll. Olimpia won its third EuroLeague game in a row prevailing over Valencia 90-79. With a sequence of runs, Olimpia repeatedly built double digit margins against a resilient Valencia team capable to come back every single time and keep the game up for grab. In the fourth quarter the margin at some point was reduced to two points. And Olimpia exploded once again with a 13-0 run inspired by Brandon Davies who finished 6-for-6 from the field and dished six assists in another dominating game, closed with 32 points of personal rating. Billy Baron then provided his customary array of jump shots finishing with a team-high 24 points. “Down the stretch a couple of things happened – Coach Ettore Messina said – Offensively, we found more balance, we got back to get the ball inside, not necessarily to shoot but to create opportunities, after a few possessions when we settled for three-point shots that didn’t go in, even when wide open. And defensively we two bigs, Hines and Davies together, we raised the intensity and mostly the physicality.” Olimpia scored 29 first-quarter points and 50 at the half in spite of missing some foul shots. The seven-point lead going into the second half looked like an aberration. But the team never lost its poise and composure, shot 64.5 percent from two, made 11 threes, four players scored in double figure and everybody helped. “Deshaun Thomas was ready to go, ha meda himself ready to help after a few games thet he didn’t play in. Give him a lot of credit,” Messina pointed out. Naz Mitrou-Long made four clutch threes, Baron added four and Devon Hall had another all-around outstanding game, with eight fouls drawn, 14 points and the solid defense that he always provides. “We worked on spacing, we are spacing better now and people is making sharp cuts that are helping, especially Davies when he has the ball. But honestly he made some passes that four a big man are not usual. He has magic hands,” Messina finished.
