Zach LeDay set the tone early, made all of his four field goal attempts including two threes, scored 14 points in the first four minutes of the game, and Olimpia never had to look back on its way to a 119-92 triumph over Varese. Olimpia didn’t have Leandro Bolmaro for precautionary reasons, but the game was lopsided. Olimpia led by 13 at the half and killed Varese’s aspirations in the third quarter. The fourth period was just garbage time. Coach Ettore Messina, in his 200th game with Olimpia in the Italian league, had the chance to rest both LeDay and Shavon Shields for the last 15 minutes or so. While LeDay finshed with 26 points, Shavon Shields added 20. But it was a collective effort. Armoni Brooks went 5-for-7 from three-point range. Guglielmo Caruso and Freddie Gillespie anchored the team in the middle. Caruso grabbed five offensive rebounds and turned the game around in the middle.
