Curtis Jerrells plays a devastating, terrific game 1 of the Italian league finals, scoring 26 points especially in the first half when they counted the most. Olimpia led wire-to-wire, taking a 21-point second half lead and never looked back. Siena was able to get back within 11 in the fourth but wasg never a serious threat in this game. 84-71 was the final score. Olimpia is now leading the best-of-seven series 1-0 with game 2 to be played on Tuesday in the Mediolanum Forum. With a dominating Jerrells, Olimpia had a terrific defensive outing, moved the ball to punish the constant double-teaming of Samardo Samuels in the middle and of Alessandro Gentile out on the perimeter. Gani Lawal’s air show was instrumental just like the David Moss’ defensive clinic and the discipline self-imposed by Keith Langford and Alessandro Gentile. Samuels had a very unselfish game, not forcing a single shot, trying to get his teammates involved while Danile Hackett, returning from an injury and short of energy, was another key factor of the game.
