Pallacanestro Olimpia EA7 Emporio Armani Milano agreed on a two-year contract with Jamel McLean, 26, coming from Alba Berlin where he was named 2014/15 German League’s Mvp.
WHO’S McLEAN – Born on April 18, 1988, in Brooklyn, New York, he grew up in Hampton, Virginia. He’s a 2.03 mt. power forward, who used to play for Bethel High School in Hampton and eventually at Tulsa University in Oklahoma. He stayed there just one season before moving to Xavier, in Cincinnati Ohio. He played at Xavier until 2011, he was Atlantic-10 conference’s third team while leading it in offensive rebounds with 3.6 per game. He was undrafted in 2011 and came immediately to Europe signing for Leuven in Belgium and then Ostende. He moved to Germany in 2013, playing for Telekom Bonn and finally to Alba Berlin where he made his Euroleague debut. During the 2013/14 Eurocup season in Bonnhe averaged 15.5 points per game while shooting 53.6% from the field and grabbing 6.0 rebounds per game. In the 2014/15 Euroleague season he averaged 13.0 points per game, conquered 5.8 rebounds and was a 57.0% shooter. In the German League he averaged 14.3 points per game, took 6.3 rebounds and was a 63.4% field goal shooter.
NOTES – Jamel McLean attended the same Allen Iverson’s high school in Bethel… He scored the winning basket, on a running jumper, against San Antonio last preseason in Berlin…
