Led by a Mike James’ heroic 31-point effort, a career-high, Olimpia scared Fenerbahce forcing the EuroLeague leaders to play through the final buzzer, and Coach Obradovic to spend two consecutive time-outs late in the fourth quarter to regroup. Fenerbhace won 92-85, because of two Marko Guduric’s threes when Olimpia came back from 12 points down to two. It was a very solid effort against a dominant team, one that probably deserved better. “We played against the most solid team in the EuroLeague, one in great shape, we had the right approach, the rights faces and competed through the end which is a very important step for us. Obviously to steal a game here you got to be better doing the little things. We are talking about very small details like letting a shooter open or allowing an offensive rebound. We have to improve those things but we feel like we are on the right path, considering this kind of effort”, Coach Pianigiani said at the end. Olimpia led by as many as six points in the first, was tied at the half and trailed by as many as 12 points late in the game but was able to comeback and stay in the game untile the end. When Mike James with two straight threes reduced the gap to three and then two, Guduric made two threes himself giving his team the margin necessary to close the game. James scored 31 points with six assists. Is he a MVP candidate? “I don’t know about that, I know that we need him to play a very high level because we don’t have Nemanja Nedovic and we are not the same team without him. He has a lot of responsibilities and he’s responding but we are all caring about the team and nothing else”.
