Olimpia Milano has reached an agreement with David McCormack, a 2.08 mt tall center, born on July 2, 1999 in New York, coming from Galatasaray Istanbul.

HIS CAREER – Born in New York but raised in Norfolk, Virginia, McCormack attended the Norfolk Academy and then the Oak Hill Academy in Virginia. In his senior year, Oak Hill went 30-4 and won the state championship. In 2018 he arrived at the University of Kansas where he played 132 games over four years with 96 starts. In his third year he averaged 13.4 points and 6.1 rebounds per game, and was named to the All-Big 12 second team. He was also named conference most improved player. In his fourth season, he averaged 10.6 points and 7.0 rebounds per game, winning the NCAA championship with Kansas. He scored 25 points and grabbed nine rebounds in the semifinal against Villanova; he scored 15 points and grabbed 10 rebounds in the championship game won against North Carolina. In the same season he led the Big 12 conference in offensive rebounds and was named to the third All-Big 12 team. In the 2022/23 season he played for Besiktas (9.1 points and 7.4 rebounds on average, 56.3 percent shooting from the field); in 2023/24 he was at Darussafaka and then at Galatasaray (14.2 points and 7.2 rebounds per game, 60.1 percent shooting from the field in the Turkish league; 13.2 points and 6.8 rebounds in the FIBA BCL).

NOTES – In the six games of the 2022 NCAA Tournament he averaged 13.1 points per game and was included in the All-NCAA team. Before dedicating himself only to basketball he played football in high school and tried the shot put and discus throw. He played in the 2018 McDonald’s All-America Game, the game reserved to the best high school players of the country.
