Arturas Gudaitis’ parents were wrestlers. Probably he inherited their strength and became a powerful basketball player. He must be, but he never wanted to be a heavyweight since basketball became his love at 15.
His beginning- “I love basketball because in Lithunia everybody love bsketball. We have always had a great National Team since the nineties. Those players were like examples for me, to see them made me wanted to be a basketball player”.
What he can bring to Olimpia – “A lot of energy: I’m trying to get every rebound and to do the things that help the team to win games. Everybody likes to score but I’m comfortable even without scoring”.
The NBA draft – “Yes, I was happy. I remember that day, I was in the States. For every player, I think, is an honor to be drafted by an NBA club. It means that what you’ve been doing is ok. That’s it”.
His breakout season in the Eurocup – “It gave me confidence, any time you play well you bring that type of confidence n the court. It’s normale for every player. And now I’m beginning a new chapter, Milan, the EuroLeague, yes I hope to play as well as I did in the Eurocup”.
The National team – “It was ok but a little sad at the end because we finished too early. We had the talent to compete for a medal but we came up short. This is how sports work, that happens sometimes”.
Milan first impression – “Everything here is done at a high level, the team is rich of story, we play the EuroLeague, the teammates… I wouldn’t know what to say more”.
His Supercup impact – “The players with my style of play, with energy, trying to help the team win, they don’t need much time to help. For a point-guard maybe is different, they have to feel for all the team, but I’m a different kind of player. I can do the dirty job. I like to score like everybody but my job to do the dirty work, help the team. That’s why I could help”.
Expectations – “Work hard and see what happens. I can’t say, yes we want to go to the Final Four, or things like that. The team’s goals obviously are big but what we need is to work hard and see what happens”.
