In the end Alessandro Gentile had to make his free throws to complete a great individual performance (which included 23 points and 5 assists) in order to guarantee Olimpia’s win, the third in the Top 16 before Mike D’Antoni’s eyes. Gentile delivered with five seconds to go extending the lead to four points after Malaga with a furious rally got within two. Olimpia had a great second half, starting with four consecutive threes and getting a led it never relinquished. But Malaga never gave up, had a couple of huge threes by Ryan Toolson. So Olimpia had to keep pushing through the end to win 90-86. Gentile found great support in Samardi Samuels’ individual game, Daniel Hackett made some great baskets down the stretch and it was MarShon Brooks to make three great threes early in the third, decisive period.
