Andrew Goudelock approached game 1 with a purpose and didn’t fail to perform at a high level scoring 26 points and leading Olimpia to a 98-85 win over Trento. Especially in the second half when Trento tried to comeback Goudelock responded and during the unexpected fourth period shootout he was the one who made the big baskets. Olimpia had a great approach at the defensive end of the floor that lasted for three quarters while leading by 18 entering into the fourth. Then Trento had 33-point period but Milan found a way to respond every single time. Five players scored in double figure, the execution was great, Vlado Micov and Kaleb Tarczewski played superbly througout the game while Dairis Bertans fought foul troubles after a dominating shooting spree in the second quarter when Olimpia built its lead. Trento tried to stay in the game after five straight points by Forray that opened up the floor for Shavon Shields career-night of 31 points. “We had a good game no questions about it – Coach Pianigiani said – because we set the tempo and this is crucial against Trento, we also shared the ball, five players scored in double figure and we paid attention to the game plan all night. But as soon as we raised the foot from the pedal they had a dangerous fourth quarter. What we did tonight was good but won’t be enough to win game 2. We need to be better defensively, at reading their line-ups and keep improving”.
