Olimpia took over in the second half and defeated Alba Berlin 100-68 for its third straight EuroLeague win and the fourth straight game, across the two competitions, won by scoring at least 100 points. The game was taken over in the third period when Olimpia turned a 4-point lead into a commanding 25-point domination. Olimpia scored 31 points in the third and allowed Alba to score just 10 points. “The first half was offensively good, we scored 47 points, but we had nine turnovers and we allowed eight points off offensive rebounds. In the second half we cut the turnovers and our defense increased its energy and intensity. It was well played, the second half,” Coach Ettore Messina said.

Nikola Mirotic

Shavon Shields started the second half on fire. At one points, he scored three times, on a drive and two straight threes to give Olimpia some semblance of a consistent margin. Then, Zach LeDay took the baton from him and with two more threes broke the game apart. Early in the fourth quarter, Coach Messina asked Nikola Mirotic to close the game. He followed instructions, making three consecutive threes that made Olimpia’s crowd crazy. Mirotic finished with a game-high 21 points, but six players scored in double digit. Zach LeDay added 18, Shields had 16, Armoni Brooks had 12 and Leandro Bolmaro, who was the better player over the first half, attacking the rim and defending hard on Matt Thomas, who looked to be on fire early, had 11.
