Coach Ettore Messina wanted his Olimpia team to be competitive and stay close to the end, his guys responded coming back from 17 points down to within three points on several time in the fourth quarter. Unfortunately, a terrific defensive effort was not sustained by shooting percentages. Olimpia shot 3-for-16 from three and missed four free throws out of seven. Fenerbahce kept the lead and won 73-64. Two consecutive threes made by Nando De Colo and Kostas Sloukas proved to be decisive. Olimpia achieved a small success by keeping the lead in the point differential. It won by 13 the Milan’s game. It could be very importan, down the road. Kaleb Tarczewski was in his best, dominating, impersonation: he scored a career-high 19 points, he grabbed nine boards, blocked four shots, had a 27-point PIR. He was everywhere, at both ends of the floor. “Unfortunately, we missed some shots and particularly we missed three open shots down the stretch that could have won the game for us, but I’m proud of the effort,” Coach Messina commented at the end. With no Jeff Brooks, Olimpia used for many minutes a small lineup, with three real guards, including a courageous Cinciarini. It was able to keep the pressure up, defensively it was great, in spite of the loss.
