The dreaded double weeks in the EuroLeague, that cause an effort probably felt during the following Italian league games (Olimpia lost twice after the double games, in Sassari and at home with Avellino), apparently are handled very well by Olimpia. Its record in those games is an excellent 6-2, with three wins in the first of the two games and three more in the second. Olimpia twice closed the double week with a 1-1 record and twice with a 2-0 record. It’s remarkable that it won all its home games and was 2-2 on the road. The record, clearly better than the overall record, is showing a team equipped in terms of desire and heart and very well prepared from an athletic standpoint.

THE BREAKDOWN – Olimpia lost in Madrid in the first game of the first double week, than edged Barcelona at home in a comeback win. The next time, it won in Valencia after two overtimes and prevailed over Bamberg in Milan. Both games were comeback wins. Then, it beat Baskonia at home and lost in Malaga in the closing seconds. Finally, it won against Malaga at home and in Vitoria. Both games, let alone the final score, were convincingly won.

THE OTHER TEAMS – Olympiacos is the best team in “double weeks” with a 7-1 record. This is the partial standing: Olympiacos 7-1; CSKA Moscow, Real Madrid, Panathinaikos, Olimpia 6-2; Fenerbahce, Zalgiris 5-3; Khimki, Bamberg 4-4; Maccabi, Valencia, Baskonia 3-5; Barcelona 2-6; Red Star, Efes 1-7.

This is the record including the second games only. CSKA Moscow 4-0; Olimpia Olympiacos, Panathinaikos, Real Madrid, Maccabi 3-1; Fenerbahce, Zalgiris, Baskonia, Barcelona 2-2; Khimki, Malaga, Bamberg, Red Star, Valencia 1-3; Efes 0-4.
