In a game with big swings that went down to the wire, FC Barcelona pulled out an 84-80 victory over visiting Olimpia at Palau Blaugrana. Milan led by double-digits in the second quarter and 36-45 at halftime, but Malcolm Delaney rallied the hosts to take a 58-51 advantage. Things were close to the finish, Olimpia took the lead on a thunderous alley-oop dunk made by Kaleb Tarczewski, but Delaney came up with the big plays for Barca to prevail. He finished with 26 points on 6-for-9 three-point shooting with 9 assists and 5 rebounds, including the three that gave Barcelona the lead for good. On the ensuing play, Vlado Micov had an open three to regain the lead, but he missed. Kyle Kuric added 16 points, Nikola Mirotic 15 and Brandon Davies 12 for Barca’s fifth consecutive win. Milan saw Sergio Rodriguez score 14 points. Kaleb Tarczewski collected 13 points plus 9 rebounds, Nemanja Nedovic finished with 12 points, while Vladimir Micov and Luis Scola scored 10 apiece in a losing effort. “We had our chances – Coach Ettore Messina said at the end -, I’m proud of the effort. We had a big first half, after the first few minutes, then in the third we struggled against their raised defensive pressure, but we stayed in the game. Delaney made the difference, but if we make the open three with Micov probably now we’d be talking about a different outcome.”
