Before a capacity-crowd, Olimpia didn’t have the resources to compete with the Boston Celtics and finally surrendered 124-91. With no chance to prepare for the game, coming off a long flight from the US, the jet-lag had an impact and Coach Reèesa knew beforehand EA7 couldn’t play up to its ability. Besides, Boston was very deep, strong and connected. The guards were outstanding and the defense was very physical. Olimpia was able to compete in spurts, early in the game, late in the first period and definitely to start the third when had a 9-0 run and looked ready to stage a comeback. But the effort was not sustainable in the long haul and the 4-period of 12 minutes had another impact. Alessandro Gentile had a terrifc game in spite of 5 turnovers because physically he was the most ready. He scored 19 points and his slashing game was brilliant. Robbie Hummel in the end, Milan Macvan early and Charles jenkins with good consistency found a way to have an impact, at least in spurts. But the Celtics looked very sharp with Avery Bradley making threes, Isaiah Thomas attacking with his quickness, the solidity of Jared Sullinger and David Lee in the paint where Stanko Barac had some good moves in spite of misisng too many free throws.
