David Moss lost his granny during the night before the Varese game. With his heart broken and after a sleepless night, he decided to report to the team hotel just in time to play. He gave all his energy and was instrumental in the Olimpia’s win over Varese 105-97 in an offensive oriented game. Olimpia had to play without Alessandro Gentile and during the last practice Linas Kleiza sprained his ankle and couldn’t play. But Moss was there, and MarShon Brooks was there to score 37 points in a terrific second half. He had 27 for the half, 16 in the third and led EA7 to the win. Olimpia controlled most of the game but with a shortened rotation couldn’t finish the opponent and had to stay aware of the foul situation. Brooks played the length of the game. Melli stayed on the court for 36 very-inspired minutes. He was 5/5 from three. Olimpia led by 11 early in the fourth after Bruno Cerella’s three from the right corner. Then Varese attempted a ferocious comeback and with slightly less than three minutes to play went up by one. But Olimpia responded with a long jumper by Melli, a three by Brooks and finally after an offensive board by Shawn James, Joe Ragland made the three to put Olimpia ahead for good, 100-97. MarShon Brooks finished the game from the line.
