Coach Luca Banchi addressed the media after the Barcelona game: “We approached the game in the right way but against this kind of opponents we need to play consistent basketball for 40 minutes because they are capable to kill you whenever you have a letdown. The 7-8 minutes of the second quarter were decisive. We let them get away and couldn’t be back. In the second half we play with good intensity and sometimes we had the feeling we could come back. We did some good things: in spite of their physicality we grabbed many rebounds, we forced them to spend fouls, we limited the number of turnovers. But we weren’t supported by the shooting percentages while they shot the lights out. Abrines took advantages of Navarro’s absence but that’s not unusual for those type of teams. What we need is to play 40 minuets of consistent basketball. There’s no other way to compete against a team like Barcelona who changed little from last year, had a Mvp-caliber performance from Tibor Pleiss. This is what I feared the most before the game and this is what happened”.
