It’s rare to be named MVP of a tournament that your team finishes in third place. But there’s no doubt: in Zadar, Mike James was the best player on the court. He led his team to two wins and Olimpia went very close to defeat Fenerbahce too. He played at least 31 minutes every night, he couldn’t care less about being on the road for 11 days, about playing three tough games in four nights or carrying an heavy load. He was impressive, scoring 24.7 points per game, and many of those points were very stylish. Including a top-of-the-backboard driving lay-up against Bayern or a underhanded runner against Fenerbahce. No questions, he was the MVP. Ha shot the ball well from downtown, he was almost flawless from the line. Against Bayern he was a leader, he led the team to come back from 19 points down. He chose Milan to be some sort of franchise player for a EuroLeague team with aspirations. He showed what he meant. Now let the real season begins.
