Baskonia won its 8th game in the last nine, defeating Olimpia 86-69 fueling its terrific playoff push. “Their intensity, offense and defense, decided the game. Our intensity was not at the required level. After the first period, they played a very good game and deserved to win,” Coach Ettore Messina said at the end. Olimpia approached the game well in the first quarter, when it led by as many as eight points because of a terrific defensive start. Baskonia came back in the second, but at the half the game was in the balance, 33-32 for the home team. The third quarter was when Baskonia disrupted the game, scoring 27 points and getting into a great offensive rhythm, too, because of a Pierria Henry outstanding effort (19 points ans six assists). Olimpia tried to stay in the game, came back within five in the third, but then Baskonia erupted and a couple of consecutive threes made by Alec Peters and Rokas Giedraitis opened up a margin that couldn’t be filled. In the fourth, offensively the most productive for Milan, the deficit was reduced at 11 at one time, but Olimpia never threatened Baskonia’s win.
