Coach Luca Banchi had this to say about the Barcelona game that Olimpia lost 84-80: “It was a great collective effort, to be able to play 40 minutes with this kind of intensity. For most of the game we control the tempo and imposed our game plan. We anticipated their comeback because of their physicality which they used to draw fouls and get to the line. But we never gave up. Even when they looked ready to explode we kept fighting back. In the last minute they took advantage of one bad execution offensively but also of one flagrant foul called on Melli unexplainable. It wasn’t acceptable because it denied us the legitimate chenace we earned to try to win the game or sned it to the overtime. It was a regular foul, made with the will of stopping the clock and nothing more. We should have gone to the other end of the court down by two. We didn’t win and we are leaving Barcelona with some regrets but at the same time we are aware of what we can do. But we don’t have anything to show for that and so we need to reset everything and think about the next game. And I don’t want to look beyond the Pesaro’s game on Sunday”.
