In Monaco, a loss like so many others in this EuroLeague season took place eerily, 90-85. Olimpia led by as many as 12 points several times, the last one early in the fourth quarter but squandered its lead and ruined its good game in the last five minutes. “We played 35 great minutes and one more time we riuned everything in the last five when the physicality level went up a notch. It is disappointing,” Coach Peppe Poeta said. Olimpia moved the ball, controlled the boards, defended well for the majority of the game. A early 12 point lead was erased by Monaco in the second period, but somehow Olimpia went into halftime up by three and rebuilt the lead during a magnificent third quarter with Zach LeDay making mid-range corner jumpers and Shavon Shileds showing his two-way game. Up by ten entering into the quarter, Ricic made the lay-up to go up by 12 one more time. A few minutes later, Devin Booker seemed to frustrate Monaco’s come back wth a top of the key three that pushed Olimpia ahead by ten again. And then, the offense crashed against the Monaco’s wall and the defense collapsed in a 90-85 demoralizing loss.
