Occupying a place in the world is not simple, even when a body takes up so much space. Anna in the middle of her classmates does not look like a primary school girl, but her eyes full of questions confirm that she is only ten years old. In every movement Anna is very cautious and seems to be embarrassed: as if everything around her could break at any time if she was able to pull off the chasm of emotions she can’t tell or show. Every step of the way, Anna is uncertain, her body does not belong to her, and everything from mathematics to Italian, from walking to running, is done very slowly, as she is looking for a companion. Sport does not let itself be impressed by the measures, big and small can discover themselves capable of incredible things. That basket for Anna is not so far away, but the thought of being able to score, for her, so sweet in her insecurity, so small in her greatness, is a distant thought. Sport makes us naked: it brings us closer to our limits, makes us explore unknown resources and allows us to see each other from new perspectives. In the project Basket For Good, Anna, who with her bulk felt a child so different and so inadequate, made a discovery that perhaps will change her path: she saw men tall like skyscrapers, oversized just like her, juggle with elegance with a ball in the hands, they jump so high as to give the illusion of flight … differently tall, differently large and incredibly adequate. Suddenly being big and tall being is not so bad … A long pass arrives quickly in the basket and a rebound is easily recovered and becomes the point that leads to the win. Her space in the court is respected by her teammates, her face is illuminated by a smile, in the eyes shines the happiness of those who feel accepted.
