Sergio Rodriguez met the media before the EuroLeague game between Olimpia and Real Madrid: “It’s a great honor to enter the Olimpia Hall of Fame. When I came here I knew the history of the club and the players who were part of it, their wins. Being able to say that like them I have left a mark is an incredible honor. From the first day here I felt I had a special feeling with the fans, with the environment, something different even compared to all the places I have been lucky to play in. Probably, it has to do with the circumstances, the doubts caused by the Covid outbreak, but I also remember the birth of my third child and then the wins, two incredible EuroLeague runs. Reaching the Final Four means having achieved the goal of any season, then it’s a matter of luck and we didn’t have it in Cologne. We lost the Barcelona game on one single shot. This club is ready for these results. We need to keep a perspective on the situation, remember what work has been done from 2019 to today. Then there are injuries, bad luck, you have to stay solid under the tough times, but the potential is all there. And let’s not forget that there have been other difficult moments but this group knows how to get out of them, how to work, and in fact three consecutive championships have been won and we are all proud of this. My future? I discovered the weekends, for now I don’t miss practices and games, maybe in a few months it will be different, when the games will be more important. But I will stay in basketball because it’s my life, I watch all the games, I talk about basketball. I want to understand well after a bit of decompression what the next chapter of my life will be.”
