Pallacanestro Olimpia EA7 Emporio Armani Milanoagreed on terms with Oliver Lafayette, 31, coming from Olympiacos Piraeus where he won the Greek championship and made it to the Euroleague final game.
WHO’S LAFAYETTE – Born on May 6, 1984 in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, Lafayetteis a 1.88 point guard who used to play for the Capitol High School of Baton Rougeand then for two small colleges, Blinn and Brown Mackie before enrolling to the University of Houston (15.1 points per game as a junior, 14.3 as a senior). After college, he played for Correcaminos in Mevico, in Erie, Maine and Fort Wayne in the D-League, then a single game with the NBA’s Boston Celtics. Eventually he came to Europe to play for Partizan Belgrade. Maccabi Ashdod in Israel, Prokom in Poland and Efes in Turkey were the next steps in his career before moving to Zalgiris Kaunas. In 2013 in Kaunas he won the Lithuanin championship. In 2013/14 he played for Valencia in Spain winning the Eurocup. In 2014/15 he played for Olympiacos Piraeus and won the Greek title and reached the Euroleague final.
NOTES – Oliver Lafayette was awarded a Croatian passport for sports reason and played the 2014 World Cup with Coach Jasko Repesa… Among his trophies also a Lithuanian Supercup… At Houston he was twice named to the All-Conference USA second team… Combined he has appeared in 74 Euroleague games with foru different teams… At Olympiacos he averaged 6.8 points per game while being a 40.4% three-point shooter (6.7 in the Greek league)… When he won the Eurocup in Valencia he shot 37.7% from three and had an unheard of 35/36 from the line. During the season he averaged 4.2 assists per game in Eurocup and 4.5 in Spain.
