The last ditch effort to get home court advantage for the playoffs first round fell short in Trapani where Olimpia lost 89-81. The game was close for the 15-16 minutes, then Trapani took the lead and Olimpia attempted several times to come back but with no success. “A few times we had momentum going for us but something always happened, a turnover or a missed shot. Turnovers really cost us the game because when we needed to score after a stop we returned the ball and they scored on us. We average 9-10 turnovers per game, we had 18 tonight. Way too many. Give credit to the Trapani defense but my feeling is that they were mostly unforced turnovers,” Coach Ettore Messina said. Olimpia shot the ball better but Trapani attempted more shots because of turnovers and also offensive rebounds. “We’ll improve with Josh Nebo playing more, in a much better condition, and tonight we didn’t have Ousmane Diop,” Messina pointed out. With the loss Olimpia slipped down to the fifth place and we’ll start the playoff from behind. “We know every series will be hard, every potential fifth game will be played on the road. So, it will be tough. We’ll prepare for this,” Messina closed. However, Nebo return looked promising. He struggled early in the game, with the foul situation but looked more and more comfortable during the course of the game.
