Olimpia made nine threes and shot 40 percent from three-point range, but it won the game 75-55 because of what the team did at the defensive end of the floor. A 16-0 run between first and second period proved to be decisive. Olimpia held Alba Berlino to nine points in the second quarter and overall to a ice-cold shooting night (5-for-25) plus 19 forced turnovers. The defense kept the lead for Olimpia when the offense stuttered a little bit late in the game. Kevin Punter led the scorers with 14 points and his 16th straight double-digit game, Sergio Rodriguez added 12 points and five assists, Zach LeDay scored 12 points, but the 75-55 final score was the byproduct of a great defensive night. “I think it’s very important to play consistently because probably the second half was not so, let’s say, exciting like the first half, but we kept the lead and that allowed me to rotate all the players. And when you can cut the minutes of the players, especially now when we are going to play two games a week probably for two months, it’s a huge key. So I’m very happy for that. It’s a good win. They’re a good, aggressive and athletic team, they were missing also a couple of key players. So it’s a good win and now we start preparing for Panathinaikos,”  Coach Ettore Messina said at the end. Gigi Datome was the last Olimpia player to return after an injury, stayed on the court for 10 minutes and did a couple of good plays in the first half, while nobody played more than Malcolm Delaney’s 22 minutes.
