A defensive masterpiece in Moscow. Olimpia held CSKA to 57 points and led wire to wire, to get another big road win after the one earned one week ago in Barcelona. Olimpia approached the game perfectly, took an early lead and held the opponents to 10 points in the first quarter. When CSKA attempted a comeback it kept its poise and responded. Olimpia led by as many as 16 points, had another defensive clinic in the second half holding CSKA to 22 points. It was a commanding 67-57 triumph. Both teams were missing key players. Olimpia had one more setback before the game when Gigi Datome was a late scratch. CSKA was without Daniel Hackett and Will Clyburn. But Olimpia made Alexey Shved and Marius Grigonis basically ineffective. And more than that the second unit played marvelously. Troy Daniels made four threes and Trey Kell had some kind of coming-out party in his second EuroLeague game. “hey were without Hackett and Clyburn. We were, as you know, without Mitoglou, Shields, Grant and Datome, so both teams had their own problems. I think a big key that we found in our bench huge resources with Try Kell and Troy Daniels” Coach Messina said. CSKA stayed close until it was able to control the offensive boards. Then, Kyle Hines happened. His second half was monumental. “We found some balance and fixed the rebounds in the second half – Coach Ettore Messina said – Kyle Hines was amazing on the boards. Because of that, I think we had the extra possessions and even if we didn’t shoot well, we took a great win, a very important win.”
