Armoni Brooks was simply on fire. Starting as small forward he had his fifth “over 20” game of his Italian league rookie season, stopping just short of his career high set in Cremona when he scored 31 points. Brooks had 28 points, went 6-for-8 on threes, made all his eight foul shots and finished the game with 36 points of personal index, a season high. Olimpia rode his shooter on its way to a huge 115-82 win on the road. Brooks was on fire, five players were out for different reasons, but everybody helped and most of the players scored. Stefano Tonut coming off the benchi made a couple of threes immediately then went 5-for-6 from three. Niccolò Mannion added 13 points. Mirotic, Flaccadori and Diop scored 11 points each. “In the first half we scored 52 points but every time we missed a shot or we had a turnover they were able to run on the break – Coach Ettore Messina pointed out – In the second half our defense improved, we used the swtiches to keep their center, Silins, very good at shooting the ball, from hurting us after a couple of earlythird period possessions. Offensively, we moved the ball well and we shot well. Diop and Freddie Gillespie rolling deep created that small window for the shooters. We have been shooting well all season long, honestly.”
