La potenza è niente senza il controllo… Quanta confusione e quanta rabbia si può portare dentro a 9 anni? Riccardo ha fatto battaglie, in classe in corridoio in spogliatoio, e ogni battaglia è stata seguita dal silenzio assordante della sua paura; paura di parlare, paura di non essere visto, paura di non poter comunicare se non attraverso la violenza…ogni anno un ‘insegnante diversa a gestire la sua furia ….a chi affidarsi? Le parole sono uno strumento complesso per i bambini, ed è per questo che il progetto one team avvalora l ‘importanza dello sport come tramite educativo, come esperienza di crescita, come modo di esprimersi…dillo con un passaggio, dillo con un tiro…Bambini come Riccardo, possono volare a canestro senza sentire il peso della propria sofferenza, bambini come lui che hanno bisogno di divertimento, ma hanno soprattutto bisogno di quell’argine che non li farà esondare…un argine fatto di regole . Quel cerchio nel quale gli allenatori ti accolgono, quel fischio che scandisce il tempo. Riccardo ha scoperto che delle regole ci si può fidare, sono state per lui il tramite per incontrare i suoi stessi compagni di classe, amati e odiati e per scoprire insieme la bellezza di essere squadra di poter sentire l’eco del proprio nome quando la palla entra nel cesto.
Lui ha visto da vicino gli eroi della lunetta… ha scoperto che la sua fisicità a volte incompresa e temuta in campo può essere un talento, lui che spesso in classe è “quello che non ha fatto il bravo” nell’esercizio dei passaggi è proprio bravo, e soprattutto Riccardo ha imparato il valore della condivisione, insieme si è più forti e anche la paura anche la propria furia indomabile è gestibile se c’è un gruppo a sostenerti.
A Riccardo è stata data la possibilità di partecipare a questo progetto, ed è riuscito a cogliere l’essenza e l’importanza di ciò che gli è stato regalato. Il suo inizio è stato distaccato, lento e con poca fiducia verso i due allenatori Michele e Marilisa, che entravano in quella palestra e imponevano le loro regole, il loro gioco, togliendogli la possibilità di fare ciò che normalmente faceva a casa o a scuola senza controllo.
È stato un bambino che ha avuto un percorso di crescita sia a livello cestistico che caratteriale, imparando a conoscere e comprendere prima sé stesso, e successivamente come aprirsi agli altri e al mondo, come provare a dare fiducia a quei due allenatori che arrivavano da lui offrendogli un pallone da basket, e un’ora di divertimento e felicità, ha saputo trasformare un viso arrabbiato, in un viso sorridente e felice.
Riccardo ha saputo porgere la mano, per aiutare i compagni, ed è riuscito a instaurare un rapporto amichevole in campo con loro, quel rapporto che spesso in classe non si riesce a creare, il basket e lo sport gli ha uniti così da creare l’inizio di un legame fondamentale e profondo.
È difficile suscitare il cambiamento in un bambino in crescita ma il fuoco della passione per uno sport illumina il volto delle sue vittime e ha il potere di trasformare, come è accaduto a Riccardo che oggi è in grado di combattere per fare canestro e di accettare la mano di un compagno per rientrare in campo ad armi deposte.

“If I can change, the whole world can change”
Power is nothing without control… How much confusion and anger can you bring in as a 9-year old kid? Riccardo fought battles, in the classroom, in the corridor, in the dressing room, and every battle was followed by the deafening silence of his fear; fear of speaking, fear of not being seen, fear of not being able to communicate except through violence … every year a ‘different teacher to manage his fury …. to whom to entrust? Words are a complex tool for children, which is why the One Team project supports the importance of sport as an educational tool, as a growth experience, as a way of expressing yourself … say it with a pass, say it with a shot … Children like Riccardo, children like him can jump to the basket without feeling their suffering. That circle in which the coaches welcome you, that whistle that marks time. Riccardo discovered that the rules can be trusted, they were the means for him to meet his classmates, loved and hated and to discover together the beauty of being a team to be able to hear the echo of your name when the ball enters the basket.
He has seen the basketball heroes up close … he has discovered that he is sometimes misunderstood and his feared physicality on the court can be a talent, he who is often “the one who did not do well in class” can be really good at passing the ball, and above all Riccardo learned the value of sharing, together you are stronger and even your own indomitable fury is manageable if there is a group to support you.
Riccardo was given the opportunity to participate in this project, and managed to grasp the essence and importance of what was given to him. His start was detached, slow and with little confidence towards the two coaches Michele and Marilisa, who entered that gym and imposed their rules, their game, removing the possibility of doing what he normally did at home or school with no control.
He was a child who had a growth path both in basketball and in character, learning to know and understand himself first, and then how to open up to others and to the world, how to trust those two coaches who came to him offering a basketball, and an hour of fun and happiness He was able to transform an angry face into a smiling and happy face.
Riccardo was able to offer his hand, to help his teammates, and managed to establish a friendly relationship on the field with them, that relationship that often cannot be created in the classroom. Basketball and sport have united them so as to create the beginning of a fundamental and deep bond.
It is difficult to provoke change in a growing child but the fire of passion for a sport illuminates the face of its victims and has the power to transform, as happened to Riccardo who today is able to fight to make a basket and to accept the hand of a companion to return to the field with weapons laid.
