Shawn James is already in Milano along his wife and two kids. He’s moving the first steps in his new town, ready to battle even with his brother Delroy, who’s playing in Brindisi. James was born in the French Guyana but moved with the family to Brooklyn early. He played for Northeastern and finally Duquesne when he had the CSKA Moscow star, Aaron Jackson, among his teammates. Then he started playing in Israel and with Maccabi was All-Euroleague second team two years ago.
MILANO – “I’m excited to be part of this organization, one of the top in Europe. So I can’t wait to get started and see what I can bring to this new team on the basketball court”.
GUYANA – “I don’t remember much because I was very young. Guyana is a small country in South America. When I was six or seven we moved to the USA, in Brooklyn, New York”.
DELROY – “At the end of the day I’ll tell to my brother that I love him but I play for Olimpia Milano. We’ll compete and we’ll talk about it later but at the end of the day what’s really important to me is to win the basketball game”.
SHOT BLOCKER – “It’s my trademark. All the things regarding defense and rebounding. At the end defense wins the game and this is what I try to do best on the court. Blocking shots is not something you can practice. You can do it or you can’t. It’s not something you can go in the gym and working for 30-45 minutes on blocking shots. You can or you can’t”.
IL MACCABI – “To me personally was very frustrating to be injured. At the same time I was happy for my friends and teammates. It was great for them and frustrating for me but still I was part of that team since day one and felt one of them, so I was happy just like the guys on the court”.
